top advisor Helmut Marko of Red Bull Racing is confident that Pierre Gasly in 2019 performs well as new team-mate Max Verstappen. The Austrian thinks that the talented Frenchman is still the one and the other must learn.

“All eyes will be on him, but that’s how it works in Formula 1,” says the 75-year-old Marko Thursday against Motorsport.com. He stresses that Gasly directly many to expect.

“If you’re in the football wrong, you end up on the bank. Gasly has shown that he is fast, but we have to have some discipline to teach. We are confident that he can do it.”

Gasly is with his 22 years, a year older than team-mate Verstappen. The Frenchman is Red Bull successor Daniel Ricciardo to the Renault leaves.

Gasly is aware of inexperience

Red Bull is in the new season with a Honda engine at the start. The team of Verstappen took over after the last season, after twelve years of leave of supplier Renault. Gasly drove in 2018 at Toro Rosso all around with a power source from Honda.

The new Formula 1 season begins on February 18 with the first testweek in Barcelona. From the end of January the teams will already have their car for 2019 reveal. From 26 February at the Circuit de Catalunya, the second testweek on the program. The first Grand Prix on march 17 in Australia.
